OPEN LETTER TO THOSE “RESPONSIBLE” FOR WAR CONFLICTS
Dear Sirs,
It is only for epistolary education that I address you with capital letters, with the intention of reaching you with this letter to draw your attention to what you have been causing for some time. Even though I want to consider the many reasons that have brought you to the level of bellicosity, it does not seem to me that any of them is sufficient to “justify” the continuation of taking the lives of your fellow men, be they defenseless populations (and without any guilt) or the men under your command, as well as your adversaries. Objectively among the reasons at stake there are several interests of considerable importance that you want to defend such as certain goods (which among other things come from Nature), as well as the non-prevarication of certain territorial spaces; in addition to privileging belonging to a certain ethnic group and related cultures and religions. But is all this worth the price of millions of human lives and just as many disabled and without a Homeland? Not to mention the concept of physical suffering, often atrocious and uncontrollable due to torture and segregation. Of all this you are not aware and aware of the constant protections and privileges you enjoy. But what is even more absurd is that all those who wear a uniform and take up arms every day, it is clear to go to the front in order to kill in defense or offense; therefore even these people, although under your command, are responsible (directly or indirectly) for the suppression of many human lives. And it is also clear that you, Lords of the guaranteed death of others, do not conceive or do not want to conceive the value of human life whose preciousness is unmatched; and yet you too were conceived with the same universally known purpose. And even if among you there is someone who avails himself of the "mandate" according to his own Religion, and therefore his own God, I do not believe that it further justifies every evil action such as hatred, torture and suppression; in my opinion it would be too convenient an excuse as well as liberating… Just think for a moment if a fellow human being more powerful than you were to suppress you or make you suffer the so-called pains of hell, I don’t think you have the “gift” of stoicism: since the beginning of time no one has ever liked to suffer and, if there were any exceptions, these people have deserved the glory of Eden ahead of time. Perhaps some of you will know that history has had martyrs, precisely because of the excessive power of those who made them suffer and perish; but some of these martyrs, before dying from a violent cause, their bodies resisted, demonstrating how Faith is sometimes stronger than your violence! Well then, gentlemen despots and tyrants of the first and last hour, it would be good for you to review your beliefs, your conscience, your limits, your spiritual poverty and learn (once and for all) that the world you believe to be at your feet, in reality belongs to everyone. But perhaps, the one who gave birth to you has not suffered enough to understand that one is born with a destiny, but that it does not necessarily have to prevail over that of others. Most likely this of mine will be of little use, indeed, certainly of no use, both because I am not known to you (and I am worth nothing) and because your insatiable thirst for power, arrogance, greed, presumption, wickedness and more, are the constant demonstration that the historical events of the past centuries have not taught you that one is a Man if one respects the life of all. Finally, even if absurdly you regretted the evil done to humanity thus far, the seven Dante's Circles will not be enough to welcome you all… without a requiem. Peace be with you; indeed, with all of us!
